Arsenal's Nicklas Bendtner has insisted that he and fellow striker Emmanuel Adebayor can play together ahead of Sunday's clash at Chelsea.Bendtner and Adebayor infamously clashed in January as a dispute erupted in the 5-1 Carling Cup semi-final defeat to Tottenham.

The duo have since played down reports of an ongoing rift, while injuries to other players have seen them often paired in attack.

However, there have been claims that the Dane and Togolese are unsuited to playing alongside each other as their styles are too similar.

But Bendtner, who is vying for a start in the Grand Slam Sunday clash with Chelsea, is adamant that he and Adebayor can complement each other as a striking pair.

"People keep saying we are too similar in style and things like that. But I think it can work just fine," he said in The Sun.

"We combined for a goal against Aston Villa earlier this month. And I think it went quite well when we played Wigan.

"We found each other a few times - though it wasn't easy on that surface!

"I think it's good for me to be able to help the team in whatever way I can.

"This season it was very important for us to show everyone that we are at the top of English football.

"That's where we belong and where we have always belonged. If we can carry on now and get a trophy, it will be fantastic."
