Grimsby Town midfielder Nick Hegarty has signed a new three-year contract with the Mariners.The 21-year-old, who began his career as a trainee at Blundell Park, has been rewarded for an impressive season with a deal that keeps him at the club until 2011.

Hegarty, who made his debut at the end of the 2004/5 campaign, began the season on loan at York, but has forced his way into manager Alan Buckley's first-team plans.

He has made 28 appearances since returning from York in mid-September.
