Derby manager Paul Jewell is considering scrapping the reserve team in favour of behind-closed-doors fixtures to played at Moor Farm. The second string are bottom of the Premier Reserve League South, having yet to win a game and failing to score in six of their last seven games.
They have had to field a youth team for most of their fixtures and Jewell believes that taking part in the league is counter-productive.
"In the past reserve team football meant a bit more than it does now." Jewell told The Derby Evening Telegraph.
"We would be better off pulling out of the reserve league and playing at our convenience at our training ground. We get a lot of requests from clubs asking if we can play a game behind closed doors. It suits everyone."
