Ipswich manager Jim Magilton has revealed he failed in a "cheeky" bid to bring Tottenham striker Darren Bent back to Portman Road.Bent has struggled to impose himself at White Hart Lane since making a £16.5million move to Spurs from Charlton last summer and Magilton looked into bringing the former Ipswich forward back.
He told the club's official website: "Darren was having a tricky spell at Spurs and we made a cheeky enquiry.
"We want to bring in players that will raise the bar and Darren would obviously do that.
"But he is very much in the fold at Tottenham and it is not going to happen.
"We just asked the question."
