Thu 20 Mar, 04:15 PM

Notts County manager Ian McParland has called for the club's fans to play their part in the Magpies' battle against relegation.County, the oldest team in the Football League, are just one place and three points above the League Two drop zone having played more matches than the two sides below them in the table.

McParland said: "We have nine massive games coming up over the next few weeks and the fans will have a huge part to play.

"They are the main part of this football club and while we have to give them something to cheer on the pitch, it also works both ways.

"They have to get behind us, even when things aren't going so well. At Peterborough on Saturday, the 400 fans who made that journey were absolutely fantastic.

"They got right behind the team and it showed through in the performance of the players. That is what we want from now on - and especially at Meadow Lane."
