Murphy: Easter period crucial

Thu 20 Mar, 12:15 PM

Striker John Murphy believes Chester City will raise their game against promotion-chasing duo Darlington and Peterborough United over Easter. The Blues are yet to win under the stewardship of manager Simon Davies and have lost their last five on the bounce ahead of Saturday's home clash with the Quakers.

But Murphy - who has scored nine goals this season - is confident City can arrest an alarming slump in form.

"Our games at home to Darlington and at Peterborough this weekend are tough fixtures, but I think we play better against those teams who are higher up in the league table," Murphy told the Evening Leader.

"Darlington and Peterborough are two good sides and one look at the league table will tell you that.

"But we can't afford to lie down. We must keep fresh, get our head down, and work hard. We need to keep things tight at the back and take our scoring chances when they come along."
