Norwich manager Glenn Roeder has insisted that the signing of Maceo Rigters was a rare opportunity for the Canaries.Roeder signed the 24-year-old from Blackburn on Wednesday afternoon until the end of the season and insists the former Holland Under-21 international will shine at Carrow Road.

Roeder said: "You don't often get an opportunity to bring a player of Mace's pedigree and background to a club in the Championship.

"It certainly hasn't been easy and I've been on the look out for the last couple of weeks trying to find a striker to bring here - including Mace.

"Over the last few days Mark Hughes has come to realise that with the season running out it will be good for Mace to come out and get some first-team action at a decent club.

"With all due respect, our home crowds are bigger than Blackburn's so it'll have the sort of atmosphere which I'm sure will bring the best out of him."
