Tony Mowbray insists West Brom are not alone in counting the cost of missed chances to take the initiative in the Championship title race.Perennial chokers Albion have managed just one point from their last two games, with Saturday's 4-1 defeat at home to Leicester one of the shocks of the season.
However, title rivals Stoke, Bristol City and Watford have all failed to take advantage and if the Baggies win their games in hand, they will return to the summit.
"Teams at the bottom can beat teams at the top which is why it's very dangerous for anybody to look at fixture lists and think 'we'll win today or lose today'," Mowbray told the club's official website.
"There is never any guarantee you will win any football match as Watford, Bristol City and Stoke and everyone else up there is finding out at the moment.
"They will be sitting there thinking about what a chance they have wasted to pull six, seven or eight points clear because they have lost games or drawn them when they should have won. That's how the league is."
