Carlos Kameni is reportedly set to turn his back on a lucrative move to the Premier League to sign a new contract with Espanyol.
Thursday's English national newspapers were packed with stories claiming Tottenham had agreed a £4.5million deal for Kameni.
But reports in Spain have now suggested the Cameroon goalkeeper is ready to disappoint his Premier League suitors after being convinced to stay.
One factor behind Kameni's supposed U-turn is he has apparently been offered a new deal which will put him on a par with the club's biggest earners.
His current contract expires in less than 18 months' time, but he will be handed a substantial pay rise to commit his future to Espanyol until 2012.
However, arguably the most important reason behind the change of heart is the fact Kameni has just become a father again and is not keen on uprooting.
Kameni and his wife enjoy life in Barcelona and she is said to want to stay as the family are now settled in the Catalan capital.
A deal should be signed before the start of April, with sources suggesting Espanyol have yet to even receive a firm offer for the 'keeper.
