Karel Brueckner said he would end his six-year reign as Czech Republic coach after the Euro 2008 finals in June.
Brueckner guided the team to the Euro 2004 semi-finals as the Czechs won praise for their attacking style.
His side also qualified for the 2006 World Cup, their first appearance in the finals for 16 years, but defeats by Ghana and eventual winners Italy meant they failed to progress beyond the group stages.
Brueckner also coached the Czech under-21 team from 1998-2001.
He started his coaching career with Olomouc, the club he had played for since 1957.
The Czechs have been drawn in Euro 2008 Group A alongside co-hosts Switzerland, Portugal and Turkey.
