Papa N'Doye's early goal caused one of the biggest shocks in French cup history as the minnows, from the fifth tier of French league football, dumped out the Champions League hopefuls in front of over 20,000 spectators at Nantes' Stade de la Beaujoire.

"We prepared for the coup of the century, and we are now experiencing an enormous result," said Renaud (pictured).

"We saw quite a result (in the previous round win) against Nancy, but frankly, I did not think we would work like we did for 90 minutes.

"It's a team victory, it's the players who receive the plaudits."

Goalkeeper Alban Joinel was amazed by the victory, which sets up a quarter-final on April 15.

"We have just created an enormous earthquake in the world of professional football," he said on om.net.

Marseille coach Eric Gerets was philosophical in defeat.

"Sometimes you learn more from a defeat than a victory. I think I learned a lot," he said.

"Their goal came early, then our fear. I do not know why. They fought like lions and we were just trying to play football.

"Probably this will be a more difficult to take than the UEFA Cup defeat.

"(But) They deserved the victory."

Club president Pape Diouf urged his side to re-motivate themselves and achieve a third place and qualify for the Champions League.

"There is not much to say," he said.

"All those who watched the game saw that on balance, the most deserving team won.

"We could argue that it continues the tradition of French Cup surprises, but today it is a deep disappointment very difficult to bear.

"This is a disappointment that has no name."

OM currently lie fourth in Ligue 1, three points behind Nancy who occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.

"We will try to get third place, which is the only goal that we still have," Diouf added.

"In any case, I congratulate Carquefor because they were able to play with their heart because in football, you can make up for technical weaknesses with effort."
