Brown sure of players' motivation

Tue 20 May, 05:00 PM

Hull boss Phil Brown is confident his players will not get sidetracked by the financial rewards on offer for the play-off final winners.Promotion to the Premier League is worth an estimated £60million as the Tigers prepare to make their first trip to Wembley this weekend, where they will face Bristol City.

But Brown believes his side, who clinically dispatched of Watford 6-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals, will be inspired solely by the prospect of playing in the top flight and not by the windfall the East Yorkshire club will land by beating the Robins.

"I don't think it's really of any concern to any of the players how rich the final is," said the pragmatic Brown. "You can mention 50, 60 or 80 million pound to any of the players, but it means nothing to that individual player.

"It's all about the personal development of wanting to play at the highest level. I think the personal development of each player is that they all want to play in the Premier League.

"These players as a group - regardless of the targets I've set - are motivated by getting to the Premier League."
