Midfielder Gareth Edds admits he is leaving MK Dons with a heavy heart having made just two starts for Paul Ince's side this season. The 27-year-old endured an injury-ravaged season at stadium:mk and will become a free agent on June 1.
Edds, a firm fans' favourite best remembered for his late goal against Tranmere on the last day of the 2004/5 season which secured the club's League One status, has bid an emotional farewell and concedes he would relish making a return in any capacity possible in the future.
"It's sad it has had to end after four years. I've had a great time in Milton Keynes and I love the club," he told the official website.
"The club will always have a place in my heart and I'm really going to miss playing for them.
"Given the chance I'd love to come back and play again. You never know what might happen in the future and you never say never in football. I'd love to come back at any level."
