Mansfield boss Paul Holland has revealed the club's retained list was altered by those above him as uncertainty over his future grows. With no sign of the proposed takeover, Holland remains unsure as to whether he will still be in charge at Field Mill beyond this summer and has no say in which players can be brought in.
He has also stated that the retained list, which was announced by the Stags last Friday, was changed from the original set of players he had in place.
"I had my own ideas and there were some players I wanted to release and others I wanted to keep," he told the Mansfield Chad. "The list released was largely what I gave them, but there are one or two changes I don't agree with.
"I spoke to the people above me and they told me their reasons for it. I have spoken to the players concerned and they know my feelings. They trust me 100%.
"Carl Muggleton is one. If I get the manager's job next season I want Carl back in here as a goalkeeper and as my assistant along with Ivan Hollet. Carl will be the first to come back in."
