Irvine enjoying North End life

Tue 20 May, 03:00 PM

Preston North End boss Alan Irvine insists he has "really enjoyed" his time in the Deepdale hotseat since taking over in December. The former Everton assistant manager took over from Paul Simpson and helped guide his side to Championship safety with a series of convincing displays.

He told the Lancashire Evening Post: "How would I sum it up? Well, it's been tough, but I've really enjoyed it.

"Early on I wasn't sure we could get out of the position that we were in when I came here. There were times when I really feared for us but even through the bad times I have been enjoying it.

"But funnily enough I didn't have any sleepless nights - I don't usually get much sleep as it is!"
