Millwall have denied a newspaper report claiming rock star Pete Doherty was kicked out of The Den following a charity football tournament.The Babyshambles singer, a QPR fan, was playing in the Celebrity Soccer Sixes tournament along with numerous other well-known faces on Saturday.

A report claimed Doherty, whose team lost in the final to dance act Faithless, was thrown out for his behaviour after the tournament.

But a statement on the Lions' official website read: "Contrary to a newspaper report, Pete Doherty would be more than welcome back at The Den following his first-ever visit to the ground on Saturday."

Chief operating officer Andy Ambler added: "The whole day was a great success.

"Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. We look forward to holding similar such events in the future."
