Gary Megson has asked Bolton fans to show patience this summer as he looks to pay the right price at the right time for his transfer targets.Megson's men finished just one point above the Premier League relegation zone to secure their top-flight status for another season.
It has recently emerged that Wanderers have banked around £32million as a result of their 16th-place finish and the increased television revenue negotiated last year.
Now fans are waiting to see who the club will sign, with a big-name striker the priority.
But Reebok Stadium boss Megson will not be rushing into anything and hopes the supporters appreciate the workings of the summer market.
"We've got our targets we would like to bring in over the course of the summer," Megson told the Bolton Evening News.
"But initially you will find the really huge clubs will get their business done because finance isn't an issue for them. They just get what they want.
"Then it goes quiet throughout June before it starts to pick up a little bit with players who might not be available now becoming available in two months' time.
"It's not a case of it being tough, you just want to get in the best players you possibly can and we're no different to the other teams who are going to be in the Premiership.
"But at least that's where we are and everybody is of the same mind: we don't want this kind of season to happen again and we know that part of that process is ending up with a stronger squad and going on from there.
"But we are a football club that doesn't do stupid things. It's not just a case of getting them in at any cost, because then it doesn't become a good deal. We will be trying though."
