Lee Carsley will join up with several familiar faces when he arrives at Birmingham this summer having agreed a free-transfer from Everton.City, relegated from the Premier League earlier this month, have signed Carsley subject to the midfielder completing a medical.

The 34-year-old Sheldon-born player was a free agent after turning down the offer of a new contract at Everton and has signed a two-year deal with the relegated club as they look to rebuild ahead of next year's Championship campaign.

Carsley revealed he had contact with James McFadden recently after the Scot joined Birmingham in January.

"I played with Damien Johnson and Martin Taylor at Blackburn and obviously James McFadden at Everton," he said.

"I spoke to Faddy towards the end of last season and he said he was enjoying his time here."
