Penney: Players should be proud

Tue 20 May, 12:30 PM

Boss Dave Penney insists his Darlington side can be proud of reaching the play-offs this season despite eventually losing to Rochdale. The Quakers are still coming to terms with Saturday's crushing semi-final second-leg penalty shoot-out defeat.

But Penney is pragmatic about how his players have fared this term.

"We're bitterly disappointed because we wanted a day out at Wembley," said Penney. "We've had a good season, but there can be a fine line between success and failure.

"The players will be down now and disappointed that they won't be making a trip to Wembley, but they can be proud of themselves."
