Tue 20 May, 12:30 PM

Cruzeiro striker Marcelo Moreno has admitted he would be interested in a move to England after Tottenham saw a bid rejected for his services.Spurs are hoping to lure the Bolivian international to the Premier League, but they saw their opening bid rejected by Cruzeiro.

Moreno is one of the hottest properties in world football following his goalscoring exploits for club and country over the last year, with a host of clubs chasing his signature.

Tottenham are thought to be weighing up a new improved bid for Moreno and the 20-year-old has given them encouragement by stating he would consider a switch to England.

"I was told about the offer made by Tottenham," Moreno told the Brazilian media.

"Of course I would like to play in England but as I said before, I have to like the place where I will be. The club has to get to an agreement with my agent and from what I know what has been offered wasn't enough."

Moreno also revealed he had rejected an invitation from Shakhtar Donetsk to visit the club in the Ukraine as they look to try and sign him.

The South American has dealt Shakhtar's hopes of signing him a major blow by admitting he would not be interested in plying his trade in the Ukraine.

Rejection

"I am thankful for the invitation that I have received but I am not really interested in playing a league that isn't so much important in Europe," added Moreno.

"I would like to play in an important league. For me to be transferred I have to like the place where I will be playing and there has to be an agreement between my agent and the club."
