Fabio Cannavaro has admitted he does not expect Juventus fans to welcome him back with open arms next season.

The central defender has signed a one-year deal to return to Juve after leaving the Serie A side for Real Madrid following their 2006 demotion in a match-fixing scandal.

A small group of fans have protested at recent matches against Cannavaro's return after his signing was made official.

"It's going to be a bit difficult because the people there are very upset that I left when the club was relegated and I understand them," the 35-year-old Italy captain told Marca.

"But I want them to know that I am coming back with a desire to work and do something great."

  2. Cannavaro has been an outstanding player for Real in the last years, especially this year. He will be wrokign hard to gain fan's sympathy, and Juve will indeed be stronger. The problem is that he will ALWAYS be remembered as the selfish who leaves when things get tough. Forza Juve!

  3. Juve are getting stronger and will become just how they were in the old days, before the match fixing scandal they were feared.
Dont worry about Cannavaro, in his head he will be trying his best on the pitch trying to win his Juve fans back and also a first start place.
Chiellini and Cannavaro will be a brick wall, also younger players in the squad can learn so much from him. Welcome back to la vecchia signora

  5. Maybe he isn't at his best any more, but he will bring a lot of priceless experience and authority to the defense and to the whole team. He's the kind of player that gets a team to rough moments. Besides, Maldini still had class at old age, so why wouldn't Cannavaro?

  6. I don't blame him for leaving. He was just coming off a great World Cup. This was "his" chance at a huge payoff. Juve could not afford to pay him that kind of money and, as they readily admitted, they needed the money that they got for his transfer. He may not be the player that he used to be, but I welcome him with open arms.

    Forza Juve

  7. i don't know what to say about htis guy. all the time he worked with Juve he was great. the only thing he did was leave when he shouldn't have. Bottom line is that he is old and i hope he is half as he used to be when he was with us. welcome back i guess.
