Comparing other clubs' interest in you to being fancied by Beyonce Knowles is quite apt in Emmanuel Adebayor's case - each is a figment of his imagination.
But there do appear to be two clubs who might, indeed, be truly hoping to secure the services of the languid striker, and both are based in Milan.
Adebayor has been a master of delusion since he and his representatives woke up one morning and decided over Sugar Puffs that every club under the sun was a huge admirer.
Jay-Z may be less than enamoured by the striker saying interest from Milan is like being told Beyonce fancies you, but he probably admires his capacity for self-promotion.
For Arsene Wenger, however, enough is finally enough.
When the dynamic duo of Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport both report Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi saying "there is a good chance we will get Adebayor", then perhaps we should believe them.
It is well known that the present incumbent of the Milan hotseat, Carlo Ancelotti, is a genuine fan of the Togo international, as opposed to the admirers created by Adebayor himself.
While the persistent rumours of Ancelotti leaving for Chelsea are unrelenting, it seems that Berlusconi has taken heed of his manager's advice and will challenge for the forward's signature, along with rivals Internazionale.
The Telegraph, however, insists Adebayor will be heading to Jose Mourinho's champions, and that £24 million is the price demanded by Arsenal, who appear to have no qualms selling the 25-year-old.
The Mirror are oiling the proverbial wheels of the 'Forlan to Manchester City' potential deal, with £20m the reported fee for the Atletico Madrid 'labrador'.
The Sun have decided that because Carlos Tevez failed to attend the club's end-of-season dinner, that he must be leaving, even though the Argentine was most probably blitzing an evening session on the treadmill with his tongue hanging out.
Stewart Downing, Tuncay Sanli and Afonso Alves will all leave Middlesbrough the very second they are relegated - if that indeed happens - according to the Daily Mail.
If the Teesiders do suffer this plight, the trio will be literally penning contracts, taking post-match medicals, and borrowing David Wheater's phone to finalise transportation - if the paper's speculation is to be believed.
The same paper also states plainly that Wigan and Real Madrid have decided on a fee of £21.5m for winger Antonio Valencia . You can picture Dave Whelan ordering a choice bitter from Florentino Perez's mobile bar, if all goes to plan.
Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has also been linked with a move to the Bernabeu if Perez returns as club president, with the Star reporting that £21m would be an appropriate amount.
Barcelona wonderkid Bojan Krkic will be on his way to Glasgow, with Celtic reportedly agreeing a loan deal with the Spanish giants.
Krkic would do well to adopt a cautious approach to negotiations: the last prodigious talent to leave the Nou Camp for the British Isles, Giovani dos Santos, ended up at Portman Road.
Which brings us not so neatly to Tottenham, who the Mirror speculates will sign Lazio striker Goran Pandev over the summer.
While Harry Redknapp is at it, he will - apparently - dip his toes into the giant Edin Dzeko pool, with Wolfsburg understood to be willing to sell the Bosnian forward.
The Daily Express argues that Spurs owner Daniel Levy will instead be asked to bank-roll an £8 million deal for Celtic's combative midfielder Scott Brown.
Presumably Bhoys manager Gordon Strachan will not be too happy to see his player of the year jump ship.
Red Bull Salzburg left-back Ronald Gercaliu has reportedly given Celtic the come and get me line of "I'm flattered to be linked". Whether more will comes of it is anyone's guess, including Gercaliu's.
Bruno Aguiar's extended flirting with both Old Firm clubs has led Ajax to enter the fray, according to various sources, while Hearts will turn their attention to Darlington striker Pawel Abbott.
Relegated West Brom are heavily involved in the market already, with Paul Robinson set to leave for Bolton, while unsettled Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson may seek solace at the Hawthorns.
And finally, Championship winners Wolves are reportedly competing with Wigan for the signature of Portsmouth's contract rebel Sean Davis, with a bid also lodged for Standard Liege centre-back Oguchi Onyewu.

Get a life goatscheeseswift (post 53). Not in the slightest bit racist.... and who cares if it is anyway!
gooooo tooooo cccccchhhhhhheeeellllssssseeaaa!you focking @#$%
a good point dan i'm a utd fan and also feel that players who try to engineer ways to hype them selves up should sling there hook and never come back
Ive been saying for ages, Adabayor is grossly overrated.
and maybe arsenal will stuff spur,s good and propper.
let adebayer & bendtner both go and get defenders & two new striker,s and may be ARSENAL can start wining the treble like man utd. this comment come,s from a true arsenal fan that see,s want,s happening at the ground.come on make next season are,s.
@raisin1uk: how dare you call Ade a chocolate teapot. That's racist.
please remember...who is adebayor b4 this??? Is people heard about him b4?? i think mr werger is responsible make him as a good player(famous) and always in trust with him...so, think about it. Go go gunners...i will luv arsenal no matter what happen.
Despite appearing to be rubbish on match of the day, everytime i see Bendtner live i really rate him. Maybe a first team slot will help him improve. I remember Anelka was garbage when he first got in the Arsenal squad and was only used as a sub
Milan would be making a BIG MISTAKE , why don't they bid for Benzema , why to pay 24 mil. for Adebayour , when you can pay 34 for Benzema ? The quality of Benzema is huge !!! He shouldn't be staying at Lyon any more, since they are not champions again...
Give Adebayor the ball and he'd be flagged offside.
Looking at Arsenal's stats, Adebayor has scored 10 goals in 1903 minutes, while Bendtner has scored 9 in 1715. Their minutes per goal are 190.3 and 190.5 respectively. Given Bendtner's better work rate, he is a better striker than Adebayor. I think there might be one or two better strikers out there than Bendtner, so sell Adebayor for £24 million.

C'mon Man City what's going on with Adeybayor, we're normally linked to every player that's for sale, get a grip you'll be giving us a bad name.
Forlan....20m, hope this one isn't true for the ex-Utd misfit, he's like a lot of players who couldn't hack in the premier who go of to wherever and stand out in a poor league, if he came back to the premier he'd be the same as before...........cr@p
omg adebayor just go and leave us gooners alone.
Get rid of him. He's about as useless as a chocolate teapot!

One more thing, to go with post #20 I made:
I bet at points, every club in the world wanted Bergkamp while at Arsenal, yet you never heard a thing. Just as much as I dislike Adebayor, I hate players like him who hire agents and representatives who don't shut the @#$% up. No, maybe Adebayor hasn't asked for the headlines about Milan or Barca to be written, but behind the scenes he is paying for people, or people are acting on his behalf making those noises. Players like Bergkamp, Seaman, Pires and Henry didn't have that, and players like Drogba, Adebayor seem to, and it makes them very unpopular and unsavoury characters, and I'd rather not have that at Arsenal
So what is your point Darren g (post31) ? All seems pretty accurate to me!
