Oldham defender Reuben Hazell is on course to be back for pre-season training after making a "fantastic" recovery from groin surgery.

The 30-year-old went under the knife as a "maintenance" precaution at the end of the season after struggling with a slight injury for the last couple of months of the season.

And physio Marc Czuczman told the club`s official website: "Considering the operation he has progressed brilliantly and the good thing is we don`t have to rush him back.

"He`ll be in a couple of days this week to make sure he is fully fit before he goes on holiday and returns to the training group in June."
