Paul Jewell believes Derby's early relegation from the Premier League last season has given the club an edge in the transfer market. The Rams' relegation from the top flight was confirmed at the end of March, allowing them to identify and pursue transfer targets in a bid to return to the Premier League.
Derby have already signed Paul Connolly, Jordan Stewart, Ruben Zadkovich, Nathan Ellington, Steve Davies, Kris Commons and Paul Green.
"There weren't too many silver linings at all last season but, it's true, knowing our fate so early meant we were trying to prepare for next season a long time and it's definitely had a positive effect in that regard," Jewell told the Derby Evening Telegraph.
"We did a lot of work before the season ended and it's good to see that work has been successful. We're ahead of everyone else in terms of bringing people in.
"It certainly doesn't end here though. We'll be looking to bring players in right through to the end of the transfer window."
