Lincoln boss Peter Jackson has swooped to make Wycombe midfielder Stefan Oakes his first signing of the summer on a free transfer. The 29-year-old declined the offer of a new contract at Adams Park in favour of a two-year deal with the Imps which will begin on July 1.
Oakes, who can play either on the left or centre of midfield, began his career as a trainee at Leicester and had spells with Crewe, Walsall and Notts County before joining Wycombe in 2005.
"The Gaffer sold the club to me. He was like a dog with a bone and he was non-stop. But it was nice to feel wanted and the move certainly feels right for me," he told the club's official website.
"I'm sure my first day at pre-season will be like the first day at school but I'm looking forward to it. The Gaffer's really excited about the season that lies ahead and I'm sure everyone will be looking forward to it.
"For me, it's a fresh start and as the Gaffer says it's all about getting promotion."
