Nico Rosberg on Saturday suggested that, without a solution to F1's political crisis, Williams will likely lose its main driver ahead of the 2010 season.
The 23-year-old German is out of contract and openly looking for a new seat, but is actually happy with the Grove squad's FW31 car and also in talks with Frank Williams.
But because Williams is on the other side of the row with the rebel FOTA outfits, Rosberg would risk racing in a series devoid of the star teams and drivers if he committed to the British team now.
"If all the big teams and drivers are there, I believe the FOTA championship would be more attractive than the Formula One championship," he said at Silverstone on Saturday.

burt, not sure what you are trying to say, but it is becoming quite boring to see same message on all the articles. so why don't you just give it a rest. or try saying something meaningful and an actual contribution.

the hamster slapping continues.
Forgeting about prize money and investment - will sponsors want to be involved in F1 when the audience base is not there ? Will the TV cameras be there for it be shown on Setanta (? sic) No tv, less interest less spectators and so on
Rosberg has been wasting his time
Kudos to Ross Brawn like Williams he too has Responsibility to his team, employees, sponsors, etc.has has a small independent team. With all the big manufactures gone if he were to throw his team in with the FIA series I reckon he would dominate for the next five years at least. But he has seen the big picture, unselfishly and for the good of the sport he is standing shoulder to shoulder with FOTA…. Hats off to Ross Brawn.
Quote. Adam Parr... "I am hoping that nobody really intends to create a breakaway series, as I don’t think it is going to be good for anybody if that happens"” un-quote. Especially your mate Maxine. Each time FOTA has shown weakness Max has moved the goal post further. How much stronger would FOTA have been with all ten existing teams on its side. Being a Williams’s supporter for so long I am saddened by Adam Parr’s action. If he really had no choice he could have given FOTA maximum support by waiting until the last minute of the last hour to give maximum leverage. Never mind he’s made his bed….. I for one am looking forwards to going back to Silverstone next year to support JB & LM in a new series..... And WILL. Correct me if I am wrong but isn’t it the teams who have been making the investment? ¬ I.e. driver, technology etc and could it be that they have not been paid? And with what they are owed they could probably set-up a rival series? ....JUSTIN ... I understand were you are coming from Sir Frank does have a responsibility to his team, employees, sponsers, etc. But how did they go about was it done? I.e. 24 hours after reassuring FOTA & the chairman LD who put out a statement confirming all the teams were united Williams put in an unconditional entry? I.e. MONDAY morning i.e. FIVE FULL DAYS BEFORE CLOSING DEADLINE. Some see a conspiracy with Maxine but I think its only Williams being selfish.
mclaren should sign him
Nico's father would want him in a FOTA-based championship and he is a good driver. As justin has pointed out Williams has had to make a hard decision. While Williams are suspended from FOTA,I'm sure Sir Frank will be kept up to speed by other members and while he has an entry we dont know yet what new teams,if any will follow.
Nico Rosberg has summed up the drivers point of view. F-1 will be dead next year and the break-a-way series is the place to be. Here's an interesting thought. When the rights holder to the name "Formula One" go bankrupt, the break-a-way series can buy back the name at a discount. I bet the bank would be willing to accept $500 Million instead of $2 BIllion. That would be the Last Laugh!
The Williams team has not done well in recent years. Obviously, Frank Williams is thrilled to have the FOTA teams leave the series. Williams totally caved into Mosley's wishes. If he can't win by building better race cars, he's going to try winning by sucking up to Max Mosley. I am thoroughly disgusted by the Williams team at this point.
Remember man, Sir Frank made the choice a month ago, before FOTA were this far along in the breakaway, when simply "going to sports cars" was still on the table for Ferrari. He said "we're racers, its whats we do" and he had to submit his entry just to make sure he has somewhere to race next season.
Preparing for the worst, if an FIA lawsuit due to ridiculous EU laws keeps FOTA from forming their own series, and those rogue teams get locked out, what would he do then? What would his employees do? There will, for certain, be an F1 series next season (we aren't here to discuss its legitimatecy), and Williams owes it to his employees and sponsors to follow the most logical sense from a man and a team that doesn't have other ventures and places to send employees should this whole racing thing go ka-put. He's just between a rock and a hard place, and I think he made the most logical, conservative decision based on how many people he has that depend on him for a decision.
I am disappointed in Williams decision to succomb to whatever Max Mosley wants. I thought Frank Williams would have the balls to stand up to Max. Apparently he wants to be Max's little @#$%.
Surely if Rosberg stays with Williams he is pretty much guaranteed to be the 2010 FIA F1 world drivers champion?
Will, the teams don't get any money from the FIA. The teams get paid from FOM (BE) and that's on a yearly basis. In fact, part of FOTA's argument is all about that. Only 50% of the revenues go back to the teams and FOTA members have been argueing about 10's of millions still owing them.
I think its time for a breakaway series after all the rubbish that has been going on for last few years. The current F1 has no character at all and if FIA gets their way with admission of substandard teams its going to fade out. There is no contest anymore amongst the teams because they all run different cars, there is no Fomula anymore. Some teams race cars with double decker diffusers, other race cars with the KERS system and other use both. Teams are not allowed to test during the season but are expected to build new parts and keep up with competition. The test drivers' role has been killed, the results are there to see. There is nothing spectacular about the technology, the only headlines are those involving issues off the track like Mosley's sick sex life and bad steward decisions.

What about all the money that the breakaway teams have to pay back to FIA that they so greedley got up to 2012.
only an idit like mosley thinks other wise. if, and that's a big if, the FOTA does start a new championship, than F1 would be no more, fact
