Championship - Holloway: I get 100 offers a day

Ian Holloway claims he has been offered up to 100 players a day since he took over as Blackpool boss.

Since landing the job last month, Holloway insists his phone has not stopped ringing.

He insists that his most difficult job, as far as recruiting new players is concerned, is trying to separate the wheat from the chaff.

"I am getting 80 to 100 calls a day from agents telling me their players are brilliant - it's ridiculous.

"I sat at home for a year (before getting the Blackpool job) and no-one called," Holloway told the Blackpool Gazette.

"All of a sudden I've got two phones that are red hot, but I must admit there isn't a lot of interest from my end.

"I am going to take my time, try and get people on trial if I can and make sure they are right for us," he added.

"Even if we are being offered players who have had an illustrious career, I want to see what they can add to the squad.

"I want to see what they are like when they turn up and find out they have to wash their own kit.

"We can't make any mistakes. If you have less money than everyone else, it puts you at a disadvantage but I believe you can turn that to your advantage provided you get the right people."
