Plymouth have received bids for five unnamed players but boss Paul Sturrock is adamant that no deals will be done unless they represent good business for the club.
Sturrock is keen to make signings himself but he is under pressure to trim the squad, making departures from Home Park inevitable.
"I have had enquiries for five players," he told the club's website.
"In the last two days I have had phone calls from certain managers about the availability of certain players - for permanent deals and loans."
He added: "It is encouraging but some of the deals do not suit us. They are not good deals. They are not of benefit to Plymouth Argyle.
"There are a lot of discussions to go on with certain football clubs, managers and agents before anything happens.
"The Catch 22 is that, if we bring in before we put out, and we do not put out, the budget increases instead of decreases. It is a fine-line time-frame at this minute."

c'mon argyle turn things round otherwise "going down going down going down" :(
ya miserable @#$%, remember if you can, bottom of the 4th division, travelling to carlisle on a friday night. I miss those day's, yeah right. Careful what you wish on this club, you just might get it.
its going to be a long, dark and cold season of misery if things dont change fast. I go becuase I live in Plymouth im not an avid fan I support Aston Villa but I wouldnt call myself a glory hunter because I go to both. I will be at Argyle most games and I will hope they stay up, the key is home games, if we can get enough people behind them we may have a chance. Stapleton and Sturrock do what you say your gonna do and if not out at christmas and in with a new younger manager who can take us forwards in the future.
Here we Friggin go again! we suffered so badly this last Season due to the excellent team we had under Ollie's reign being sold, we get promises that during the Off Season Sturrock will only strengthen the club and now this utter bo**ocks!!! Division 1 here we come, a huge struggle once again is on the cards, YES it is a business, but it makes 'business' sense if we can stay in this Division, we can't do that by selling our best players each season! Sturrock, I have admired and respected all this time and have stood by the decisions but if our cream go this Summer then Luggy should follow them... PATHETIC
Suprise suprise! Once again we'll be a selling unit for the rest of the league and see nothing in return. The reason the squad is so big is Sturrock buys absolute ar$e paper for 80% of his choices in players the half decent ones either get loaned out or are the most injury prone players in FIFA. Stappletons no better with all the money from last years sale of the century we haven;t seen half of the money.... The Grandstand my hump, whats the point in 30,000 seater when we can't even get 15,000. Please Mr Japenese men buy in and get rid of the @#$% erotic couple that are Sturrock and Stappleton.
Still got a season ticket though because once your blood turns green theres no going back!
