Alex Smith has confirmed he will be part of Falkirk's new management team.
Smith is poised for a consultancy role at Falkirk when the club announce their new management team on Tuesday morning.
"I am happy to confirm I've agreed a return to the coalface of Scottish football at Falkirk," former Aberdeen and St Mirren manager Smith, 69, told the Scottish Sun.
"I want to work with players on a daily basis on the training ground again and help make them better.
"I also want to go to a club and assist young managers at the deep end, try to guide them and help them avoid blunders."
Eddie May, currently head of youth development at Falkirk, is expected to land the top job assisted by Steven Pressley, who retired from the playing staff at the end of the season.
Smith added: "Trust will be massive between myself and the management. I`m sure Eddie and Steven will be great listeners."
