Manager Keith Hill was pleased with the performance of his side at both ends of the pitch as Rochdale secured a 6-0 victory against Rossendale.It was Dale's first pre-season match on English soil and three goals either side of half-time sealed a comfortable win.

Hill told the club's official website: "It was a good performance and though I am happy about scoring six goals, I am even more pleased with the nil.

"We have some good players here and if you can mix that in with plenty of endeavour then you are close to getting that winning formula.

"It was a good training exercise for us and though (goalkeeper) Sam Russell didn't get much in the way of the exercise he needs, I am sure he will get plenty over the coming week."
