Novo Wants Signing

Sun 20 Jul, 12:09 PM

Nacho Novo has called on Rangers to bring in a new midfielder to replace injured star Barry Ferguson.

Gers skipper Ferguson is set to miss the first three months of the season after undergoing ankle surgery earlier this month.

Novo admits losing Ferguson is a major blow to the side and he believes the Glasgow giants need to bring in a quality signing to provide cover for Ferguson.

"Barry is a right-sided midfielder and we don't have anyone," Novo told the Sunday Mail.

"We have Charlie Adam but he's left-sided just like Kevin Thomson so we need someone else.

"We've picked up a few injuries and there aren't many players left. DaMarcus Beasley and Barry have picked up knocks and are important players.

"It's a big squad and we'll do everything we can to compensate because we need to be ready for the European qualifiers.

  1. Just a quick question for gers fans, and i mean this genuinely. If a section of rangers fans are unhappy with the signing of Kenny Miller, and keep saying its because he's not good enough as opposed to being ex-celtic, why was broadfoot, a st mirren player given such a fair crack of the whip? Why is Darcheville such a cult hero, when to be fair he's very similar to Miller? I think Miller will be a great signing and just what rangers need to get the best out of Boyd....and i support hibs by the way.

  2. Nacho Novo is right. Rangers need another couple of quality football players because what we have just now is not good enough. This could be another year where our season is over by the end of October. We could be out of Europe and Celtic out of sight. We'll see against Falkirk

  3. well done greig comment #1 at last a rangers fan that can see the truth .and yes you will be second best to the champions celtic again next year .
but i honestly dont think steven davis is the answer .while yes he is a good player he is not very productive going forward and that is what rangers lack most imo .but i have to agree with you on kirk b he is useless.

  5. Agree with wee Nacho, however we need to bring in much more quality not just in that central midfield department. We really should push the boat out now for Steven Davis, a commanding centre half, a left back has to be a priority with Steven Smith's recent injury problems, not to mention a right back of genuine quality to push Whittaker, if indeed Walter has that role in mind for him. Broadfoot is not the answer. Also the team requires an injection of pace from the flanks as the likes of Chris Burke is not good enough. Indeed, in my opinion he is in the last chance saloon. Come on David Murray, get the finger out and spend some of the cash has been generated over the past year or we will continue to be second best to that lot.
