Championship - Injury doubt for Fontaine

Bristol City defender Liam Fontaine may miss the start of the season after picking up an ankle injury in the 1-0 defeat to Rushden & Diamonds.

The former Fulham trainee has returned to England for treatment and faces at least two weeks on the sidelines.

Fontaine has appeared 63 times for the Robins since his permanent arrival from the Cottagers in 2006, and has appeared 63 times for the Championship side - scoring one goal.

City's pre-season preparations have taken a major blow with injuries to first-team regulars Marvin Elliott, Gavin Williams and Stephen Henderson who are all ruled out at present.
