PLAY-OFF - Tom Watson v Stewart Cink 6-UP (4 holes)
19.35 - STEWART CINK IS THE 2009 OPEN CHAMPION! He birdies the last to win the play-off by six shots!
19.25 - It's as good as over. Watson finds the rough with his drive and wastes a shot trying to hack out. He lays up with his third, chips on with his fourth and eventually gets down in seven. Cink is on in two and down for four to open up a four-shot lead.
19.10 - The par-three 5th is next up. Cink finds the back right of the green, but Watson is wild to the right and faces a tough blind chip to the green...he plays it beautifully and shows huge resolve to make par. Cink also takes a three and holds his one-shot lead.
19.00 - Watson and Cink both find the sand with their approaches. Watson flicks out and has a long putt for par...he comes close, but settles for a bogey. Cink plays out to 10 feet and drains his par putt to lead!
18.45 - The play-off will start at the par-four 5th, followed by the par-three 7th. The players will then move to the par-five 17th before bringing things to a climax at the par-four 18th.
18.35 - WATSON (-2) MISSES! We head to a four-hole play-off between the veteran American and his compatriot Cink.
18.30 - Watson's (-3) approach at the last goes through the green. He putts from the semi-rough and leaves himself a 10-foot putt to win The Open. If he misses, a play-off against Cink (-2) awaits...
18.20 - Disaster for Westwood (-1). He goes strong with his birdie putt and misses the return back for par to slip to one under.
18.15 - WATSON (-3) BIRDIES 17! The 59-year-old American will go to the 18th almost certainly needing a par four to win The Open. Westwood (-2) is in a fairway bunker at 18....but he summons an absolutely miraculous shot to find the green. He has a massive putt for birdie.
18.10 - WESTWOOD (-2) BIRDIES 17! His long eagle putt comes agonisingly close to dropping in, but he has to settle for a four and a share of the lead with Cink (-2) and Watson (-2). Are we headed for a play-off? Or could Westwood find a birdie at the last? Or Watson birdie the 17th? Anything could happen.
18.05 - CINK (-2) BIRDIES THE LAST! The American sets the clubhouse mark at two under and shares the lead.
18.00 - Goosen (Par) eagles the 17th and has the chance to tie the clubhouse leader with a birdie at the last. Watson with a long birdie chance at the 16th...he leaves it horribly short, but sinks the par putt. Goggin (Par) picks up a third straight bogey. WATSON LEADS BY TWO WITH TWO HOLES TO PLAY!
17.50 - Westwood (-1) comes up short from the rough at the back of the green and drops a shot at the 16th. Watson (-2) HAS THE OUTRIGHT LEAD with three holes to play. We are set up for an absolutely cracking finish. Goggin (-1) and Cink (-1) are also still in it, as is Wood (-1) - who's in the clubhouse and waiting.
17.45 - Westwood (-2) catches his bunker shot fat and fizzes past to hole. He misses the putt back and drops a shot to fall into a share of the lead with Watson (-2). Goggin (-1) follows Westy into the sand at the 15th and leaves himself a tough one for par...he misses it and takes bogey.
17.30 - Goosen (+2) makes double bogey after finding the sand at 15 and his chance is surely gone. Meanwhile, Watson (-2) needs three to reach the par-four 14th and has a 10-footer for par...HE MISSES IT! Goggin (-2) then misses his par chance and Westwood (-3) is all alone in the lead. But he finds the sand at the par-three 15th!
17.15 - Goggin (-3) has a great chance to take the outright lead at the 13th, but he gets his birdie putt all wrong and settles for par. Goosen (Par) is still in there, with four holes to play. Cink (-2) birdies 15 and is suddenly one shot off the lead.
17.00 - Wood (-1) finishes with a disappointing bogey at the last, but he takes the clubhouse lead nonetheless. Fisher (+2) has a good birdie chance at the 13th, but he leaves it short.
16.50 - WATSON (-3) BIRDIES THE 11TH! The 59-year-old shares the lead with Goggin (-3) and Westwood (-3), with Wood (-2) and Cink (-2) one back.
16.45 - Watson (-2) comes seriously close with a birdie try at 10, but he comes up short. Goggin (-3) has better luck and move into a SHARE OF THE LEAD! Wood (-2) birdies the 17th and is one off the lead with one to play.
16.35 - Westwood (-3) bogeys the 10th and his lead is cut to one shot. There are now 20 players within five of the lead.
16.30 - Watson (-2) drops another shot at the 9th and falls back to join Goggin (-2) in a share of second, two behind Westwood (-4). But Westy is in trouble at the 10th, where he finds the long grass from the tee and hacks out into the fairway. A tough up-and-down awaits. Donald (Par) has the CLUBHOUSE LEAD AT LEVEL PAR after a four at the last.
16.15 - Donald (Par) birdies the 17th and suddenly finds himself in contention. If the Englishman can get in the clubhouse at par or one under, he could yet have a say in the championship. Watson (-3) sinks a tricky five-footer for par at the 8th. Wood (-1) fights back with a birdie at 16.
16.00 - Watson (-3) cracks a fine approach into the par-five 7th and sets up an almost identical eagle chance to the one Westwood (-4) drained. But Watson leaves it short and has to make do with birdie. Goggin (-2) also birdies. Wood (Par) makes his second bogey in succession.
15.50 - Westwood (-4) EAGLES THE 7TH and takes a two-shot lead! Fisher's (+1) nightmare continues with a bogey six.
15.45 - Westwood (-2) sinks a fine birdie putt at the 6th and moves into a share of the lead with Watson (-2). Wood (-1) drops a shot at 13. Fisher (Par) takes a par, which hopefully will settle him after his nightmare at the 5th. Denmark's Soren Hansen (+1) sets the clubhouse mark with a four-round total of 281.
15.30 - Westwood (-1) drops a shot at five after a poor tee shot. Fisher (Par) makes a QUADRUPLE BOGEY EIGHT and sees his lead evaporate. Watson (-2) and Wood (-2) now share the lead.
15.15 - DISASTER FOR FISHER! He finds the rough at the 5th and makes a hash of his escape shot. His second attempt skids across the fairways and into the rough on the other side. He then decides to take a drop. He's now playing five and looking at double-bogey at the very best.
15.05 - Watson (-2) misses an eight-footer for par at the 3rd. Fisher (-4) also drops one after chipping out from the long grass by the side of the 4th green.
15.00 - Fisher (-5) and Westwood (-2) both makes pars at the 3rd, but Fisher's tee shot at the par-three 4th is a long way right. He's in the seriously thick stuff. Westy draws a seven-iron and finishes just through the green in the semi-rough. Not bad at all. Wood (-2) has ANOTHER BIRDIE at the 10th. WHAT A RUN!
14.45 - Fisher (-5) CHIPS IN AT THE 2ND! What a start for the Englishman. He leads by two. Westwood's (-2) birdie putt stops just short of the hole. Watson (-3) pars the 2nd. Goggin (-2) bogeys.
14.35 - Wood (-1) has another birdie at the 8th. Last year's silver medalist is making a real run at this. Watson (-3) BOGEYS THE 1ST and Fisher (-4) leads The Open.
14.30 - Watson (-4) and Goggin (-3) arrive on the 1st tee to a wonderful reception. Goggin finds the semi-rough left of the fairway, Watson splits it. Westwood (-2) makes his par at the 1st. Fisher (-4) BIRDIES THE 1ST AND MOVES INTO A SHARE OF THE LEAD!
14.20 - Els (Par) CHIPS IN AT THE 13TH to get that shot straight back. England's Chris Wood (Par) is also going in the right direction - an eagle at seven sets him up for a run at a low score. Meanwhile, Mssrs Fisher (-3) and Westwood (-2) both hit solid tee shots to get their rounds underway.
14.15 - Retief Goosen (-2) and Jim Furyk (-1) are away at the 1st. These two have both won Majors and have all the experience to make a challenge today. Els (+1) drops a shot at the 12th. He needs a seriously sparkling finish now to give himself a chance.
14.00 - Justin Leonard (+1) birdies eight, nine and 11. Donald (+2) drops a shot at the eighth.
13.50 - YOUR VIEW - Who is going to win this 138th Open Championship and why? We'll post the best comments in this thread.
13.45 - Els (Par) picks up another shot with a birdie at the 10th. He's three under for his round today and not out of it yet by any stretch. A blazing finish and he could post a number. Weekley (+1) picks up par at the 1st...as does Carbrera (+1). Mannassero (Par) gets ANOTHER BIRDIE! Unbelievable stuff from the 16-year-old.
13.30 - Oliver Wilson (+2) birdies the 7th to get to one under for his round today. Italian amatuer Matteo Manassero (+1), who is guaranteed the silver medal, is two under through eight holes. Masters champion Angel Cabrera (+1) and Boo Weekley (+1) are away down the 1st fairway.
13.20 - "A Watson win would be memorable. Golf is a game of skill, not youth and power. If I could play competitive sport when I hit 59 I would consider myself exemplary" - dariusz.adekoya
13.15 - Donald (+1) is cooking on gas. He's birdied one and four and got himself within five shots of the lead early on. Graeme McDowell (+2) and Paul McGinley (+2) are both safely on for two at the 1st with long ones for birdie. McDowell puts first...he leaves it short. McGinley does the same. Pars all round.
13.00 - Andres Romero (+2) birdies 10 and 11. He's three under for his round today. You get the feeilng there could be a 66 out there today. The final group of Watson (-4) and Goggin (-3) are due to tee of at 14.20. Westwood (-2) and Fisher (-3) go at 14.10. John Daly (+2) is away with a par at the 1st.
12.50 - "Can't believe all this clamouring for a Watson win. He is only playing because he won donkey's years ago and should stick to playing in the seniors. Time the qualification process was changed. Personally, I'm hoping for Westwood or Fisher" - kestephenson
12.45 - Paul Lawrie (+8) is in with a 68, which included an ALBATROSS TWO at the par-five 7th. England's Luke Donald (+2) birdies the 1st to get off to a good start. Sergio Garcia (+5) is level par through 12 holes today.
12.30 - Ernie Els (+2) birdies the 1st and pars the next three. American Kevin Sutherland (+2) is also moving in the right direction. He's three under for his round today, courtesy in part to an eagle two at the par-four 5th.
12. 15 - South African Richard Sterne (+2) is out in 32, with three birdies and not a dropped shot to be seen. With the weather forecast to get worse as the afternoon draws on, it's not unthinkable that somebody will come from five or six shots back to challenge - as Paul Lawrie famously did at Carnoustie in 1999, when he teed off on Sunday 10 shots off the lead.
12.00 - Good afternoon all and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the final round of the 138th Open Championship! We're set up for an enthralling day's play. Veteran Tom Watson (-4) leads and could become the oldest man to win a Major if he holds on. But there are plenty in the field with designs on ending his fairytale - including Englishmen Lee Westwood (-2) and Ross Fisher (-3) and unheralded Australian Matthew Goggin (-3).
