Davidson injury boost for PNE

Wed 20 Aug, 01:30 PM

Preston North End defender Callum Davidson has received a major boost after scans revealed his knee injury is not serious. The full-back twisted his knee during Saturday's 2-0 Championship win over Crystal Palace, ruling him out of Scotland's midweek friendly with Northern Ireland.

That ended his hopes of returning to the international fold after a six-year exile, but he has been told by a specialist his knee injury is only a simple twist.

"He went for a scan and it confirmed there is no serious problem there," said Preston manager Alan Irvine.

"Callum is only going to miss days rather than weeks so that is great news."
