Defender Kieran Charnock could be in the Peterborough squad to face Scunthorpe on Saturday after a seven-month absence from the first-team.Charnock played 45 minutes for the reserves against Ipswich on Tuesday night and could deputise for Chris Westwood who is struggling with a sore hamstring.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: "It's nothing serious with Chris, but he did feel his hamstring a bit on Saturday so we'll have to wait and see how he is.

"I'm loathe to break up his partnership with Craig Morgan, but we don't want to aggravate the injury so early in the season so it was important to get 45 minutes into Kieran.

"And he did very well. I could move Shane to centre-back, but he gave us good energies as a full-back against Orient so I'd rather keep him there."
