Notts County manager Ian McParland has been impressed by defender Jason Beardsley's attitude since he made his loan switch from Derby County.The 19-year-old defender has made a successful start to his County career following a three-month loan deal in July.

He played every minute of the Magpies' pre-season campaign, showing great versatility to play at both right-back and left-back.

Beardsley played in County's first two league games, making his Football League debut against Bradford at Valley Parade on the opening day of the season.

McParland said: "I am delighted with him, but he has still got a bit to learn. The thing with Jason is he wants to learn and that's a great attitude to have, but sometimes you have to pull him back because he wants to do too much.

"He is still learning the game and he is not the finished article, but I am pleased with what I have seen of him so far."
