Tour de France winner Alberto Contador has withdrawn from Sunday's Grand Prix de Plouay, a UCI Pro-Tour race in western France.
The 26-year-old Spaniard had a cold and was unable to train in the last few days.
"I don't want to be back after the Tour de France without being able to do a proper performance," Contador wrote on his website.
He said he had not yet decided whether to take part in next month's world championships in Switzerland.

Take care Alberto and get well. Hope to see you back in action soon.
Speedy recovery Conti.
lance-trance zombies need not reply...go educate yourself on professional cycling. Cancer awareness is fine, glory hound not fine.
I would love to see him on Vuelta09 not on that small races
AC....what a wimp!
Heck, nobody questioned Lance blowing off races so he could peak for the TdF. At least AC competes in the races Lance blew off so he could win the TdF. Sorry LA bought your right hand man as a "man trophy" in revenge of not winning this year. Rich poor sports really suck.

or how his doeing it so that he is not caught, please some tips Mr the Contador, thanks in advance
PROBABLY HE EXCEEDED IN HIS TOUR DE FRANCE CELEBRATIONS. TOO MUCH PARTYING AND DRINKING AC??
Recently, I discovered a hot place – T a l l h u b Co m -- where many sexy tall singles who like sports and chatting there. I'm an open minded girl from UK, I also like discuss sports and love with tall guys on it.
It's a pity that AC won' t be in the race; but if he's not fit, he's not fit. Better he pull out now than use I'll-health as an excuse for a poor performance. I hope he makes the world championships.
