Lincoln boss Peter Jackson believes Chris Fagan will improve as the season progresses.
The striker, who arrived at Sincil Bank this summer direct from Glenn Hoddle's football academy in Spain, scored his first goal for the club in the Imps` 2-0 win at Bradford on Tuesday night.
Jackson believes opening his account will do the 20-year-old the power of good.
He said: "I`m delighted he got off the mark - just as Rene (Howe) did. It`s good for both of them.
"Fagan is an excellent player and he will undoubtedly get better and better the longer the season wears on.
"The confidence he, and Rene, will take from scoring their first goals will be massive and that can only be of benefit to us."
