FOOTBALL 2008 Euro 2008 Germany Michael Ballack Joachim Loew - 0

The midfielder has been at the centre of a bitter club versus country row, with Germany accusing the Premier League side of exaggerating his ankle injury.

But Loew said Ballack wants to put a stop to the bickering so he can concentrate on his return to fitness, and clear-the-air talks between the various parties will be held.

"Michael wants to work in a quiet atmosphere and he doesn't want there to be a permanent rift between Chelsea and the DFB," Loew told Sport Bild. "Now he is just working to get fit as soon as possible."

He also said there was no tension between Ballack and Jose Mourinho, even though the Chelsea coach left him out of the squad for the Champions League group stage and was reportedly angered by the player's decision to undergo surgery earlier this summer.

"The relationship between Ballack and Jose Mourinho is fine. The speculation that Chelsea want to sell Ballack is not true.

"We told Michael that we want to talk to [Chelsea chief executive Peter] Kenyon and Mourinho in a calm atmosphere, and until we have this chat with them we don't want to say anything more."

Meanwhile, national team doctor Hans Muller-Wohlfahrt said that despite undergoing two operations, Ballack's ankle would be able to operate at 100 percent when he returns to action.

"Ballack talked with Mourinho and told him that his after two operations his ankle will by able to work properly under pressure," said Muller-Wohlfahrt.
