Gabriele Tarquini stretched his lead at the top of the World Touring Car Championship standings to nine points after picking up his third race win of the season.
Yvan Muller took second in the race to keep his title hopes alive while Britain's Robert Huff came home in third.
James Thompson crossed the line sixth to become the first LADA man to score points in the Drivers' Championship while title contender Augusto Farfus was involved in an incident on lap one which ended his race.
Alessandro Zanardi was the best BMW, finishing fourth ahead of Independent race winner Tom Coronel in fifth.
Andy Priaulx was in with a chance of taking the race two pole position after sitting eighth but collided with Alain Menu on lap 12 and went wide, damage to his car eventually meaning he finished 15th.
Menu went on to take eighth with Sergio Hernandez finishing seventh.
The safety car was required twice - on lap one after a mass pile-up at the first chicane, and again on lap nine after Jaap van Lagen was hit by Kristian Poulsen.
