Barnes: I won`t walk

Sun, 20 Sep 12:50:25 2009

Under-pressure Tranmere manager John Barnes says he will carry on regardless despite watching his side slip to another defeat at Exeter.

A brace from striker Adam Stansfield helped the Grecians to a 2-1 victory with Michael Ricketts' second-half header mere consolation for Barnes, who had to endure taunts of "you don't know what you're doing" and "you're getting sacked in the morning" from both sets of supporters at St James Park.

"Of course my confidence is dented because we are losing matches," Barnes said. "But I am understanding why we are losing matches and seeing what we have done in the past.

"We are not doing anything different now in terms of what I`m asking them to do, so I still have belief in that.

"It is hard because it`s not nice hearing the crowd and we haven't won, but from my point of view, nothing can stop me from coming in on Monday and working with the players.

"That is not the hard part, the hard part is the players going out on the pitch and doing it."

  4. Can you imagine what would have happened to Ronnie Moore if this had happened to him? He would have been gone already. Barnes has to go - if he were honourable he would resign. The fans are entitled to let him and the board know exactly what they feel - the paying fans are his paymasters. He should start looking at himself, not blaming others. Bad workmen and tools...

  6. You should listen to those fans...you DON'T know what you're doing!!

When your team hasn't looked like winning a game for weeks and doesn't look like doing so any time soon, it's time to think about tendering your resignation!!
