Blood donations saved me - Davenport

Sun, 20 Sep 14:05:00 2009

West Ham's Calum Davenport believes blood transfusions probably saved his life.

Davenport suffered heavy bleeding after he was allegedly attacked and stabbed in both legs by his sister's boyfriend with a kitchen knife in Bedford last month.

Writing on his Barclays Premier League club's website, Davenport reports he is "feeling positive" - although he remains in hospital nearly a month on and he said: "I would like to thank anyone who has ever donated blood, because you probably saved my life. I would like to encourage everyone to give blood."

He added: "At the moment I am still in hospital and have quite a long way to go on the road to recovery, but I am feeling positive.

"Thanks to the club, my team-mates and fans, to the club doctors and the amazing staff at Bedford Hospital who have looked after me so well."

The 26-year-old defender wants to say a "heartfelt thank-you" to everyone who has sent messages of support to him and his family.

"It has been a tough time, and the support has been very much appreciated," he added.

  1. What a evil lowdown piece of trash Cara Davenport is. To get pregnant by a black is a disgusting shameful act, but to get this monkey to nearly kill your own mother and brother is evil beyond belief. Blacks are sex crazed savages who prey on our women, they are like monkeys.

  4. My remarks were more an attempt to goad him than anything else, as I'm sure you realise. That may not make a good case for my own humanitarian credentials but to be honest, the days when I thought I may have a realistic tilt at sainthood are already long gone.

I'm not sure that actually makes me a bigot mind you; is it bigoted to dislike someone on account of their bigotry? A debate for another day perhaps.

  5. rarkless - I'll admit to poor punctuation regarding my comments on Davenport; you're absolutely correct to say that I have no proof that he is a racist, the "allegedly" was supposed to encompass the accusation of racism as well as the accusation that he started the argument but I see reading it back that I did not in fact make that statement - I'm happy to clarify the situation.

As for me having no proof of his culpability, I thought that was implicit in my use of the word allegation - it certainly is ALLEGED that he started the argument, however an allegation is in no way proof which is why I said he allegedly started it, rather than he did start it. Until the case goes to court and reporting restrictions are lifted, only those directly involved will know the facts of the situation.

So, in summary the incident was allegedly caused by Davenport's alleged dislike of his sister's partner, one reason for which was allegedly the colour of his skin. None of these allegations have been proven as fact one way or the other and I apologise for not making that clear.

My comments on Mr Goatlips were lagely influenced by his own comments in his earlier post - it seems clear that he holds particular beliefs and the recreational activities that I mentioned are apparently quite popular amongst certain sections of the community. I agree that there are any number of other hobbies that he could have been pursuing, or responsibilities that he was divesting - if he cares to return and give a details account of his evening spent collecting for Barnados, I will be more than happy to provide a full apology.

  7. andy jones.............I agree that there is no place for rascism in Britain. I also believe that there is no place for predudice of any sort. Do you not see the irony of you condemming Goatlips predudices while displaying the same prejudices yourself. You say Davenport is a rascist and then say that he "allegedly" started the argument. That statement is OUTRAGEOUS as you have no proof of the allegations. Why then do you state that Davenport is a rascist? You then tell goatlip to FOAD which if I interpret correctly is a hope that he dies, hardly the thoughts of a humanitarian. You then ponder, because he has not amswered you, if goatlips is masturbating or getting drunk and causing trouble outside a place of worship! Why make these assumtions, could he not be involved in family business? Tending to a sick relative? No you assume the worst. Do you not see that this shows you to be as much a bigot as you label goatlips.

  8. What, no comeback from the Enoch Powell fan club?

Are you too busy jerking off over your Nick Griffin pictures or something? Or maybe you've gone out to swill alcopops and scream empty-headed abuse outside a mosque with your neanderthal buddies, isn't that how assclowns like you get your jollies these days?

Incidentally, I also think Worrell Whitehurst sounds like a thoroughly unpleasant piece of work and Davenport's sister's attitude in standing by him baffles me just as much as it does you - it's just that I ca make those points without referring to his colour because it's completely irrelevant: knife crime is a British problem, not a black one.

  9. @ Comments 6 & 7:

"Worrell Whitehurst (yes, he is black)", "Davenport's mother and sister (black man's woman)"

Jesus, are you as big a racist as Davenport himself, who allegedly started the argumnent because he wasn't happy about his sister seeing a black man and having a kid by him? That "black man's woman" comment is outrageous, why don't you just FOAD you racist @#$%?

People (and I use the term loosely) like you are a far bigger problem than the government, get back under your stone where you belong you pathetic scumbag.

  10. EDIT*...To add insult to injury, Davenport's whoring sister, Cara, then 'stands by her man' and tells the knife-wielding psycho that she loves *him in court. Cara Davenport - What a whore!

  11. So, this psychopath Worrell Whitehurst (yes, he is black) stabs Davenport outside in the driveway (thus premeditatedly), attacks Davenport's mother and sister (black man's woman), nearly kills him and possibly ends his career and only gets charged with GBH!? That's the Labour government for you...To add insult to injury, Davenport's whoring sister, Cara, then 'stands by her man' and tells the knife-wielding psycho that she loves in court. Cara Davenport - What a whore!
