Bruce - We deserved nothing

Sun, 20 Sep 12:36:52 2009

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce bemoaned the way his side fell away after a bright start and admitted the Black Cats deserved nothing from their 3-1 defeat at Burnley.

Super sub David Nugent clambered off the bench to sink Sunderland with a stunning late double and keep Burnley's proud 100% home record intact.

Graham Alexander put Burnley ahead from the spot before Darren Bent equalised but Bruce said: "The game was there for us to be won and I was delighted at half-time but it was disappointing that we petered away to nothing in the second half.

"We were the best team by a distance - we let in a poor goal and bounced back from it. The second-half performance is something we have got to put right.

"We knew Burnley would get better in the second half. To be honest we hardly gave them a kick in the first. For the second half, especially the last half-hour, we weren't there."

    Peal Bells?
Anyway, wherever wor Brucie comes from, if you tried to tell him he's not a Geordie you'd end up with a nose like his.

  4. Yeah out played was the clarets for sure in the first half. But the Game is 90 minutes, what a diffrence when Eagles and Nugent came on- a totally diffrent attack, superb, I got tex messages from Ireland on how wonderfull nugents 1st goal was But they were all gobsmacked at the 2nd one- How could he score with 4 defenders around him was the comment. But he did and what a beauty! Why was Carlisle talking to a sunderland player insead of concentating and moving out with his other defenders! Slack Slack tut tut. Good result Fair game, sunderland won the first half Clarets won the Second.

  6. john.connolly01 (#3): You really don't know what you're talking about do you? You're so full of bile! Bruce comes from wallsend: Geordies come from within the sound of a certain peal of bells in Newcastle! Are you, perhaps, a closet Mag? We played very badly in the second half it's true. But the mistakes were not putting Jones on the field from the start - Campbell is okay as a sub for the last 20 minutes, but evryone can see the lad's firing blanks! We should always field our strongest team and this simply wasn't it!

  8. Steve Bruce said we deserved nothing. WRONG WRONG WRONG, They deserved what we got, a good beating, by a team which they thought they were superior to.

  9. yes thats right Steve Bruce we didn't deserve anything as you got your team selection wrong. Ferdinand and no hands Gordon are the weak links in the defensive chain. However , they were not the only ones to not show their worth to wear the Shirts of S.A.F.C
Messers Richardson,McCartney and Turner were also very poor in the whole context of the game.you will have motivate them to improve their attitude
