Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe was full of praise for Brett Pitman after he scored both goals in the 2-0 win at Darlington.

The result keeps the Cherries on top of League Two and leaves the Quakers rooted to the bottom.

Howe said: "Brett took both his goals well. The first was a great finish and Steve Fletcher is a big help to him. The pair of them form an excellent attacking partnership.

"Also the defence is solid and there were excellent performances from the back four against a lively Darlington attack.

"We needed to be on our mettle to contain them, and we were. We are doing much better away from home than we did last season and we want to keep this run going.

"Darlington is never an easy place to come. It's a big pitch and I felt that might suit us. But we never really hit our stride even after the first goal. However we improved as the game went on."
