Leeds top League One

Leeds stormed to the top of the Coca-Cola Football League One table with a stunning 4-1 success over Gillingham on Saturday.

Bradley Johnson's two first-half goals put Leeds on the way to a 15th successive home league win and Jonny Howson grabbed the third immediately after half-time. Andy Barcham pulled one back for Gillingham but Jermaine Beckford hit the fourth 11 minutes from time to lift the hosts to the top of the table.

They leapfrog two points above Charlton who were held to a late draw at Norwich after leading 2-0 through goals from Deon Burton and Jonjo Shelvey.

Bristol Rovers are two points further back in third place after Chris Dickson struck twice on his debut to shatter Brentford's unbeaten home record with a 3-1 win.

At the other end of the table Southampton finally registered their first league win as Rickie Lambert scored twice from the spot against Yeovil in a 2-0 success.

Tranmere manager John Barnes will be feeling the pressure after Adam Stansfield struck twice for Exeter in a 2-1 win. Rovers have now lost six on the spin and are three points from safety.

Wycombe have just two more points after they lost 1-0 at home to MK Dons, with Mathias Doumbe scoring the only goal of the game.

Elsewhere, Kevin Lisbie struck twice from the spot in a 2-0 defeat of Hartlepool to secure Aidy Boothroyd's first win as Colchester boss.

Millwall recorded their first victory in seven games with a 3-1 win over high-flying Huddersfield thanks to Neil Harris.

Substitute Francis Laurent hit a dramatic winner in the second minute of stoppage time for Southend to end Brighton's run of two straight wins, with a 3-2 win. Oldham beat Carlisle 2-0 and Stockport claimed a 2-1 victory over Leyton Orient.
