Loovens sends Celtic top

Glenn Loovens' dramatic injury-time winner in a 2-1 victory against Hearts at Parkhead sent Celtic two points clear of Old Firm rivals Rangers at the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

Hoops keeper Artur Boruc looked at fault in the fifth minute as Jambos midfielder Suso Santana fired the visitors into the lead with a long-distance drive.

Celtic striker Chris Killen headed in the equaliser and, in the third minute of injury time, the big Dutch defender headed in the winner following a Danny Fox corner.

Santana slammed in an early shot from 25 yards which looked saveable but the Hoops goalkeeper allowed the ball to slip past his grasping fingers and into the corner of the net.

Hearts led at the interval but Celtic looked a different side after the break.

Striker Killen came flying in at the back post to power in a header following Shaun Maloney's cross with 10 second-half minutes gone.

Aiden McGeady and Scott McDonald hit the woodwork and with five minutes remaining Celtic had what looked like a stonewall penalty appeal turned down when substitute Niall McGinn, on for Maloney, was sent flying inside the box by Hearts left-back Lee Wallace.

After having their penalty claim turned down it looked they would have to settle for a point but Loovens popped up with his crucial goal.
