Grimsby chief Mike Newell insists his side will not get carried away after a 2-0 triumph at Torquay.
Second-half goals from midfielder Peter Sweeney and an own goal by left-back Kevin Nicholson ensured the Mariners recorded back-to-back league wins.
Newell said: "I am delighted with the result. The performance is not quite there at the moment because we are chopping and changing with personnel and we haven't got everybody fit at the moment.
"You always need a little bit of luck, it doesn't matter where you are or who you are or where you are playing and we got that little bit of fortune today with the first goal.
"We approached the game with caution but at half time I knew I could introduce the pace of Peter Bore and Jean-Louis Akpo and that proved to be the case. It doesn't always work for you but it did.
"We won't get carried away with two wins in a row but it is nice to get those two wins with clean sheets - that tells me how well we have defended as a team."
