Bristol Rovers manager Paul Trollope was delighted with the way his side's plans came to fruition in the 3-1 win over Brentford.

The Pirates were 3-0 up at the interval thanks to a brace from debutant Chris Dickson and an Aaron Lescott strike, and Trollope said: "This is never an easy place to come but it was a great first half and Chris Dickson showed why we were so keen to bring him here.

"We have worked on a few things but we knew we could hurt Brentford and luckily they all came off.

"Brentford came out after the break and showed fantastic spirit and gave us a real test but we showed we can defend well and be resilient."
