Waddock: We were lucky

Aldershot boss Gary Waddock was happy to admit that fortune had favoured his side at Gresty Road as they beat Crewe 2-1.

The Alex took the lead through Shaun Miller, but a deflected free kick from Scott Donnelly levelled the scores before Kirk Hudson bagged the winner.

Waddock said: "Make no mistake they created plenty of chances and we rode our luck at times. But it's a great result on the road and the players worked hard and deserved that.

"We've not had the luck away from home of late but today we did so I'm happy for the lads.

"We said at half time that too many balls were coming into our box and we were too open.

"But the players responded and in the second half we got tighter, competed more and threw bodies and blocks in front of everything."
