Zola - We couldn`t live with Torres

West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola admitted it was difficult to find an answer to Fernando Torres after he scored twice in Liverpool's 3-2 win at Upton Park.

Torres struck first in the 19th minute but Alessandro Diamanti was fortunate to level from the penalty spot after slipping as he struck the ball.

Dirk Kuyt put Liverpool back in front five minutes before the break only for Carlton Cole to equalise for a second time on the stroke of half-time.

That left Spain forward Torres to head the winner in the 75th minute, and Zola said: "He is a great striker, he is not easy to mark. It is not easy to defend against players like him especially when they are in the form he was."

"We were unfortunate not to pick up any points. But we will get better."

  1. man u and chelsea are depending at present on a lot of­ players over thirty and have had a couple of very hard­ seasons recently i think that will tell in the long run­ utd especially with giggs scholes neville no liverpool­ for the title

  3. Guys, I think you are being harsh on yourselves -­ I'm a LFC supporter and can tell you the lad Hines­ was a real problem!! - He had Carragher all ends up. If­ you keep playing like that you will win more than you­ lose.

  4. Have we still got a drink culture at Upton Park? Our­ players were finished in the second half, no fitness,­ no engine, no heart. Liverpool were not better, they­ were better prepared and fitter.

He­ wasn't the only thing we couldn't live with!!!­ Liverpool won the game at a canter.....We sat too deep,­ were cluesless up front and didn't rise to the­ occasion! Worrying times for Hammers fans!! Worst start­ in 7 seasons, lost 2 key players through injury and­ can't score for money!! I live in hope however!!!­ Irons!!!
